PROA Communication has led the communication strategy of the XIV International Congress of the Spanish Association of Desalination and Reuse (AEDyR), held from 24 to 26 June in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Over three days, the event brought together more than 430 attendees and 120 speakers, beating the record participation of previous editions and consolidating itself as the most relevant forum in Spain and one of the main international ones in the field of desalination and reuse.
This edition was particularly significant as it coincided with two anniversaries: the 60th anniversary of the first desalination plant in Spain, inaugurated in Lanzarote in 1965, and the 25th anniversary of the congress itself. With the institutional backing of representatives from all national, regional, provincial and local public administrations, as well as international experts, the congress was a key venue for the exchange of technical knowledge, public-private collaboration and the projection of a strategic sector.
Discussions and presentations addressed the main challenges facing the industry, from the need for new infrastructure investments and sound regulatory frameworks to the importance of social perception and long-term planning. Innovation, sustainability and energy efficiency were also highlighted as pillars for advancing safe and resilient water solutions in the face of climate change.
PROA designed and implemented a comprehensive communication plan that included extensive national and specialised media coverage, the generation of institutional content and dissemination in digital environments. Thanks to this strategy, the positioning of AEDyR as an international benchmark in innovation, research and technical excellence in desalination and reuse was strengthened, successfully projecting the strategic dimension of a congress that marks a before and after in the sector's agenda.
