The event, held in the auditorium of the Madrid Press Association, was attended by around 80 tax lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>The Madrid VAT Forum 2020 addressed the recent directives on this tax and those in progress, the consequences of Brexit, the situation of fraud, the future of indirect taxation of e-commerce, holding companies or the requirement of the invoice to deduct input VAT. The meeting also analysed the most recent case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>Fernando Matesanz, Managing Director of Spanish VAT Services Asociados, explained during his speech at the meeting that from 1 January 2021 digital platforms that \"facilitate\" the trade of goods will have to collect VAT from the companies that sell through them and then pay it to the tax authorities.
