PROA<\/strong> interview with the deputy director of El Espa\u00f1ol <\/strong>on the state of journalism, <\/span>the new digital landscape and his recent dismissal from El Peri\u00f3dico de Espa\u00f1a.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fernando Garea<\/strong><\/a> (Madrid, 1962) thus returns to his origins with Pedro J. Ram\u00edrez after being dismissed from El Peri\u00f3dico de Espa\u00f1a barely three months after its launch. Garea began his career at Diario 16 and, together with the now <\/span>editor of El Espa\u00f1ol, he was one of the founders of El Mundo, where he worked as parliamentary reporter. From there he moved to the daily P\u00fablico, which he also helped to start, and to El Pa\u00eds, which he left nine years later to join El Confidencial. In 2018, the government of Pedro S\u00e1nchez proposed him as president of the EFE news agency, a post he held until barely a year and a half later, when the same executive that had appointed him dismissed him. Garea then returned to El Confidencial, where he remained until he returned to participate in the founding of another new newspaper, this time belonging to the Moll Group, El Peri\u00f3dico de Espa\u00f1a.<\/span><\/p>\n
