The renewable energy sector is now of unprecedented importance on the political and industrial agenda in developed countries. But, although countries are making progress in energy diversification and security, this sector is not without challenges<\/strong>. Price volatility, regulation in some cases, and the resistance of certain stakeholders<\/em> are holding back some of their potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renewable energy as a 'Spain Brand<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At present, the consumption of renewable energies in Spain<\/strong> represents approximately 20,7% of average gross final energy consumption<\/strong>emissions, according to STATISTA data, underlining our progress towards reducing dependence on fossil fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, our country occupies a prominent position in the global renewable energy panorama, both in terms of installed capacity and in terms of policies for the development and promotion of the sector, closing the year at the top of the list. 2023<\/strong> with a CO2 emission free electricity generation rate higher than 50%<\/strong>. It is one of the 15 largest consumers of clean energy globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This increase in renewable energy consumption highlights Spain's contribution to international efforts to mitigate climate change. In this way, it reinforces its commitment to increase its renewable capacity and meet the targets set by the European Union in terms of clean energy and carbon emissions reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, although our geography and climate have given us a competitive advantage for the development of energy sources such as wind and solar, there is still a long way to go to reduce dependence and move towards a more sustainable model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To encourage this progress, it is essential that companies in the sector publicise the capacity of their renewable projects and effectively communicate the positive socio-economic impact that the industry has on the Spanish economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
