Proa Comunicación participates in the Masterclass on communication organised by the London School of Economics at the Ramón Areces Foundation.

PROA Communication has taken part in the masterclass on communication organised by the Fundación Ramón Areces in collaboration with the London School of Economics (LSE).

These academic conferences entitled under the name "Global media and communication in the era of digital transformation". have been assisted by Lucía Casanueva, managing partner at Proawho has been one of the 25 communication professionals selected to participate in this training.

On 12, 13 and 14 June, participants attended a series of lectures and presentations on the relationship between the media and the trust of its readers. Among the speakers was the prestigious professor Charlie BeckettLSE's founding director of POLIS, an LSE think-tank for research and debate in international journalism and society; LSE Professor of Journalism and Society Alexander GrousThe LSE's Director of Research, specialising in innovation, data, technology and productivity; or the Director of Research at the LSE's Media and Communications Department, Damian Tambini.

They all stressed that democracy and communications in the digital age are now subject to a crisis of trust.The media: mainstream media is not trusted, "fake news" fills the networks and populist politicians ride a wave of social media-fuelled anger that affects business and government, but also marketing and advertising.

But what is the role of technology and media in practice, and what are the threats and opportunities for media professionals and the policy process? How should journalists, policy makers and other media professionals respond?

These issues were coupled with new developments, contextual overviews and practical examples. It was also a highly interactive opportunity to address the special interests of all those present with other industry experts and professionals.
