Alejandro García -- NFTs, a model for certifying the value of things

Alejandro García, co-founder of Art.army, reflects on what NFTs are and why they are revolutionary. Since ancient times, people have given value to the unique, to the scarce. This is why art objects are considered pieces of unquestionable value. Their scarcity and uniqueness make them desirable.

A prodigious quality of people is their ability to believe in ideas they have invented themselves. Concepts such as laws or hierarchies are abstract things that seem real to us. They are inventions that help us to order our lives and our relationship with others. It is under this concept that cryptocurrencies or tokens were born. Digital money is something we already use with conventional currencies and will replace copper coins and paper money. The great advantage of cryptocurrencies is their complex algorithm that guarantees their authenticity. Only a certain number of tokens can be created and they are stored in the most secure place, in the blockchain: an encrypted and reliable place, a digital safe. But if we have managed to create this authenticity and security certification model for coins, why not use it to certify anything else of value?

Ideas, creations or art can have a digital certificate that says who they belong to and who created them. This is how NFTs (non fungible tokens) are born. They are certificates of authenticity and are stored like cryptocurrencies in network blocks.. Now that everything is safe, we can start to trade them, expose them and enjoy them. This system establishes trusting relationships between people and creates a business opportunity for the creative professions to trade their creations and ideas.

Projects such as Art.Army are entering this immediate future, thanks to the creation of their own metaverse for the sale of art, the development of artistic or design projects and creative experiences.
