PROA Comunicación has celebrated the last session of the season of its Dialogues addressing current political issues with Alberto Núñez Feijóo's deputy and member of the Steering Committee.
Lucía Casanueva, managing partner of PROA Comunicación, has defended an integral practice of communication and public affairs after the 'Montoro' and 'Cerdán' cases, which "provoke a feeling of disaffection towards politics".
Education and equality are fundamental issues that require a clear political project with a state vision. In the last Current Affairs Dialogue from PROA Communicationheld at its headquarters in Madrid, Jaime de los SantosThe deputy secretary for Education and Equality of the Partido Popular, regretted that "the education system is increasingly impoverished, from many perspectives, including from the point of view of equality. The government's policies are detrimental to an increasingly fair society".
The Member of Parliament and member of the new Steering Committee of Alberto Núñez Feijóo He defended "giving teachers back the authority they used to have, and providing school principals with the necessary tools". "In Spain we have a 13% of early school dropouts, it is a reality that cannot become endemic", he said, recalling that the European average stands at 9.3. "Fathers and mothers do not want their parents to have their educational model changed every 10 minutes. When President Feijóo reaches the Government, consensus will be sought with the entire education sector".
For the Popular Party's deputy secretary, the deterioration has to do with the current government, "which builds walls" and has "traded votes" with separatist political forces: "They don't care about education, only about a few votes, and the future of the youngest people is being put at risk. Education has to be anything but political. "The common trunk of education has been replanted with less and less solid roots. We must have a trunk that represents at least 75% of society for the coming decades or we will be at the mercy of those who do not believe in Spain", he added.
De los Santos also addressed the importance of dual vocational training and the need to stop turning our backs on companies to train young people. "The trades must be recovered and the intermediate stages of education must be revalued," he said.
A commitment to honesty in politics and public affairs
At the presentation of the event, Lucía CasanuevaThe influence of companies in the decision-making process of the administration, through lobbies, is also in the spotlight after the investigation of the former Minister of Finance, Cristóbal Montoro, and the imprisonment a few days ago of the former Secretary of Organisation of the PSOE, Santos Cerdán".
"These provoke a feeling of disaffection towards politics and it is considered that, along with disinformation, corruption is another of the great threats to our country. For this reason, models such as the one proposed by PROA Comunicación, with senior professionals who provide rigour, experience, strategy and reliability, are more necessary than ever to dedicate oneself to communication and public affairs", he added.
On this point, De los Santos claimed that "99% of the politicians in this country are honest people, they dedicate themselves to this because they believe in the common good". "Those of us who dedicate ourselves to politics are not superheroes, nor do we all know it, which is why we need companies like PROA Comunicación, the private sector and the third sector to enrich our proposals. And if there are scoundrels who charge for this marketing, let the weight of the law fall on them", he explained.
At the close of the Dialogue, which was attended by entrepreneurs and decision-makers from the private sector, as well as representatives of business associations, there was also time for conversation, showing the deep concern that exists in society about the state of education. "It is in PROA Comunicación's DNA to facilitate plural and uncensored forums for debate that help us to reflect on progress," concluded Casanueva.
