PROA, through its managing partner, Lucía Casanueva, was present last Friday at the awarding of the medals of the Dignity and Justice Association. Lucía Casanueva was in charge of presenting this event, which recognises people who have stood out in the fight against terrorism and the defence of victims.
She was joined by Valvanuz Serna, managing partner, and Roberto Ruiz Ballesteros, director of the Litigation Unit. "PROA is here because it understands that it is very important for civil society to support the victims of terrorism and, in particular, this association, which has done so much good for democracy in the judicial and social fields. The awards presented today are the awards of dignity," Casanueva said during the presentation.
In this edition, Lieutenant General and former Director of the National Intelligence Centre (CNI) Félix Sanz Roldán was awarded the gold medal "for its recognised role in the fight against ETA terrorism". This is the highest distinction awarded by the association, which was presented by its president, Daniel Portero. The same award was given posthumously to the National Police Inspector María José García Sánchez.
In addition, representatives of the State Security Forces, victims of terrorism, the judiciary and the media were honoured: César Luis García Garrido, chief inspector of the National Police; Jesús María Zuloaga, deputy director of La Razón; Manuela Simón Fernández, corporal 1 of the Civil Guard; Joaquín Vidal Ortiz, president of Autonomous Associations of Victims of Terrorism; José Miguel López Moure, captain of the Civil Guard; Enrique Molina Benito, prosecutor of the National Court, and Raquel Inocencio Vicálvaro, chief inspector of the National Police.
