"Set aside time to know yourself and focus on your purpose. There is no goal too high that with passion, faith and perseverance cannot be reached."
Bernardo Stamateas
All theories on motivation agree that success lies in our ability to set goals, to have challenges and challenges to face and to achieve our goals. To achieve a goal we have to be motivated. The word motivation comes from the Latin motivus (movement) and the suffix - (action and effect): it is the cause of an action, the cause of movement. If you notice, the word emotion comes from Latin emotio, emotioniswhich is derived from the verb emovere (move) and the prefix e-/ex- (of, from): impulse.
When you say you are motivated, it simply means that you are very excited to do something. Motivation comes from emotion and emotion comes from thought: motivation to achieve a purpose remains when thought is attuned to emotion. This is why it is essential to cultivate and nurture thinking so that motivation is not diluted: the key is to focus on the power of thought to create new habits, to be constantly aware of what we are thinking so that emotions do not distract us.
Amygdala hijacking" is a term coined by psychologist Daniel Golemanfather of Emotional IntelligenceEmotional abduction, which refers to an episode of high emotionality that overrides the ability to think clearly. During an emotional hijacking, people may do things they would not normally do, and often regret when they regain their composure. It is therefore important to control thoughts and apply full awareness to our actions to prevent emotions from diverting us from our goal.
Do you know what you do things for? Behind every action, there is a reasonTo activate the first brain (the reptilian) we have to find the purpose (activate the prefrontal). If not, we will throw in the towel sooner than desired because the decision needs motivation. An action generates an emotion, which produces a thought. This thought generates another emotion that leads to another action, and so on and so forth. So that this loop never stops and is aligned with our objectives and is not interrupted by excuses, laziness or fears, it is important to make sense of the purpose.
Therefore, the key to success is in the purpose, the reason behind doing something, the why? This prefrontal brain is the one that gives us meaning in what we do and with which we can lead our lives in the first place. Purpose is the reason you get up in the morning and can guide decisions and influence behaviour. Purpose creates distinct goals and gives meaning to what you do.
Whatever goals we want to achieve and need to set, it is important that they are concrete (What?), that we know what we have to do to achieve it (How?), that we find the motivation (Why?) and its long-term usefulness (What for?). If we do not answer the four questions honestly, coherently and conscientiously, it is quite likely that we will give up after some time and fail to achieve the goal we had set ourselves.
Understanding our personal finances has nothing to do with theory, economics or finance. Learning how to manage our money has more to do with our emotional intelligence than with mathematics per se, because money is more related to emotions than you think.. Understanding your finances is a job that only you can and should do, whether you have a banker to help you invest or an accountant to summarise the situation for you: your money is always going to be your decision.
So after doing the triune brain exercise that I explained in this postIt is time to think about what for. You can ask yourself: why do you want to save more, why do you want to earn more, why do you want to spend more time on your money, or why do you want to keep spending on certain items? Answer yourself and decide your why: it is a personal answer, you have to answer yourself because your purpose is the driving force behind your drive. Until you know what you want to do something for, you won't be able to do it. Motivation is based on the desire to achieve the defined purpose and, as long as there is a purpose, personal motivation occurs naturally, without effort. But this purpose must be true to what you really want, not what others say you want, need or can. Only then will the equation between purpose and motivation yield positive results.
