Proa Comunicación has managed the convening and communication of the first congress on VAT to be held in Spain, the Madrid VAT Forum. Organised by Fernando Matesanz's law firm, Spanish VAT Services, under the title 'The reform of the Common VAT System - Towards a new era in intra-Community VAT', it brought together more than 160 lawyers specialising in tax law and journalists interested in learning about the implications of the changes in Community legislation on 14 February at the Hotel Miguel Ángel in Madrid.
The aim of this event was to analyse and explain to a very specialised audience all the changes that intra-Community VAT will undergo until 2021. These changes can be considered a small 'revolution' and are aimed at harmonising certain aspects of e-commerce of goods and services, fighting fraud and proposing a definitive system of taxation at destination in intra-Community transactions.
Proa Comunicación started working on this project from the very beginning. Thus, it was in charge of creating the landing page to make the reservations, the design of all the corporate material, the call to journalists and law firms, tax and business associations, etc., the management of interviews and other informative actions before and after the event, as well as the elaboration, dissemination and follow-up of several press releases, photographs and video and the monitoring of their impact.
The objective was, firstly, to inform about the Madrid VAT Forum in order to attract a specialised audience. Also, to obtain the widest possible coverage of the forum among the media and to position Fernando Matesanz as a specialised source of information on this tax.
The result was the attendance of more than 160 lawyersmost of them tax experts, and more than 80 impacts in specialised and generalist mediaThe publication of several interviews with the director of Spanish VAT Services, Fernando Matesanz, during the pre-congress. In addition, it was included as a source of information on this tax and the publication of several articles on the changes in this tax both in the economic and specialised media in the months prior to the congress and afterwards.
