Fernando Matesanz, Managing Director of Spanish VAT Services Asociados, evaluates in this video the results of the Madrid VAT Forum 2020, the second edition of the VAT congress promoted by his firm and organised, on this occasion, together with Thomson Reuters. Matesanz, very satisfied with the response of the speakers and the high level of participation, highlights the importance of communication in the success of the event: "Without good communication, it would not reach so many people, it is a fundamental part of the Madrid VAT Forum".
A congress focused, in the words of its promoter, "on a living tax, with high tax collection power... and very complicated" and which fulfilled the aim of informing on all the legislative developments related to VAT, while at the same time addressing other controversial issues of great importance for the experts.
Specifically, the Madrid VAT Forum 2020 focused on recent and ongoing VAT directives, the situation of fraud, Brexit, the future of indirect taxation of e-commerce and issues that have always been the subject of controversy, such as the confrontation between formal requirements and the exercise of the right to deduct input VAT or the VAT treatment of holding companies. The final point was the analysis of the most recent case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
