The Luca de Tena Foundation renews the Laboratory's portal to deepen journalism trends and education

The Luca de Tena Foundation's Journalism Laboratory is entering a new phase. After having closed several national and international agreements to share training resources and jointly promote events, efforts are now focused on the website, which has been completely redesigned and an extensive content plan has been created to make it more user-friendly. www.laboratoriodeperiodismo.org to become the reference on the evolution of journalism in Spain and in Spanish-speaking countries.

Journalism Lab to publish daily relevant information on three main areas: in the first place, hearing developmentThe second is the development of a new strategy, both specifically in terms of content, mobile strategies, social media, innovation, etc, business model development, with information on advertising, pay-per-content strategy, and business diversification; and the third pillar is the training pillar.

Journalism Lab will seek to help journalists and media to understand and develop the skills needed to meet the challenges of the new society.. In the case of both audience development and business development, as well as in the training section, the information will be supplemented with success stories that are currently being carried out.

Interviews, weekly newsletter, webinars... In addition to these daily news items, Laboratorio de Periodismo will also publish interviews with people who head newsrooms or sections, lead projects or have a say in the digital transformation of journalism.both in the profession and from an academic perspective.

There will also be a weekly newsletter with interesting information on the reinvention of journalism and current news. Laboratorio de Periodismo also aims for the newsletter to gradually become a reference for all those people linked to the world of journalism.

In addition, once a month, Laboratorio de Periodismo will host a live webinar free access under registration, which will address aspects of interest of any of the three main pillars on which Laboratorio de Periodismo focuses. Some of the webinars that will be offered will address, for example, issues such as Seo for journalists, how do we measure journalistic quality with Google Analytics, success stories of payments for content, etc.

According to the director of the Journalism Lab, José Suárez de LezoThis new initiative is "a further step in the Luca de Tena Foundation's efforts to try to help those who have journalists on the most pressing needs of the profession: specialised information, research, training and updating of knowledge.

The Luca de Tena Foundation has concluded agreements with leading institutions such as NiemanLab at Harvard University, Tow Knight Center at the City University of New York (CUNY), Boston University and the Engagement Lab at Emerson College for the translation and dissemination of relevant content on new journalism trends and the possibility of enabling specialised courses and programmes for journalism students and professionals.

In Spain, the Foundation has also signed agreements with the CEU-San Pablo Faculty of Journalism and with the Conference of Rectors, and is working hand in hand with leading institutions and companies to continue to open up new avenues of collaboration.

The development of the website and the elaboration of the contents and webinars have been entrusted to Next Idea Media. The founder and director of Next Idea Media and Medialab Press España, Lluís Cucarella, who is also the editorial director of the Journalism Lab, says that "Laboratorio de Periodismo fills an important gap in the Spanish news scene. There are other international reference websites on innovation in journalism or digital transformation of journalism, such as Poynter, or NiemanLab, but Spanish is lacking a space not attached to private companies, but linked to a Foundation. The Next Idea website, which allows journalists and the newspaper industry in general to find out about successful strategies of any kind. When Next Idea advises newspapers and managers, one of the recurring questions is where they can find out about the latest trends on a daily basis. Laboratorio de Periodismo also fills this important gap".
