"The state's task is to avoid historical distortions for political purposes".

Former Minister of Education, Culture and Sport José Ignacio Wert presented his book 'La educación en España, asignatura pendiente' in the Proa Comunicación videos on the occasion of its tenth anniversary. "The task of the state is to avoid historical distortions for political purposes", he stated forcefully when referring to the Catalan political and social conflict. Furthermore, in his book he stresses that "the manipulation of textbooks used in Catalonia has been abundant". and not only the work of the nationalist parties, but also of the Tripartito era.

On the other hand, in relation to the Lomce (organic law for the improvement of educational quality), he wanted to point out that "the lack of implementation of its main measures is what has meant that the improvement has not been greater". He also recalled the context of the law, affirming that "The Lomce was approved under impossible economic and fiscal conditions".

Finally, he pointed out that early school leaving is the main problem in Spanish education, "I am surprised by the lack of sensitivity in the country towards this problem".
