The Union of Iron and Steel Companies (UNESID) has hired PROA Communication to develop and implement its communication strategy. The consultancy firm, a benchmark in managing the communication of business associationswill work to improve the positioning and the relevance of UNESID. To this end, PROA Comunicación will focus on two aspects: on the one hand, it will help to strengthening the reputational image The project will also increase the visibility and awareness of the steel industry association among its members. target audiences to achieve the necessary conditions for its member companies to develop their activity satisfactorily.
UNESID is composed of 46 companieswhich directly and indirectly employ about 60,000 peopleand the sector as a whole has a turnover of almost 15 billion euros.
The steel industry is the basis of the metal-mechanical and construction value chain. Automobiles, all types of machinery and infrastructures, among others, have steel as a fundamental component. The Spanish steel industry produces some 11.5 million tonnes of steel per year and exports 8.1 million tonnes.
Every tonne produced leads to 7 euros in environmental investments. The Spanish steel industry is a leader in recycling by converting some 8.9 million tonnes of scrap into new steel every year. In addition, it makes efficient use of resources by use almost 80% of waste and by-products it generates in the process, with a water recirculation ratio of over 90%. The steel industry is the paradigm of the circular economy.
Occupational safety, innovationefficiency and sustainability are principles guiding the strategy of the sector, which is recognised as a key player in the new green economy and is working hard to achieve the decarbonisation of industry.
