Ana Sánchez de la Nieta: "The Internet and technology have caught the media off guard".

The editor of "Conversations with", Ana Sánchez de la NietaSánchez de la Nieta believes that the Internet and new technologies have not diminished the quality of journalism today; on the contrary, they are tools that provide enormous possibilities and opportunities for media professionals. This is one of the reflections that Sánchez de la Nieta shared during her participation in the Proa Communication Observatory.

At the meeting, the journalist took stock of her professional career, pointing out some of the changes that have taken place in the profession, now more deteriorated than ever, especially due to the precariousness of work suffered by journalists. A deterioration that can also be seen in the daily work of professionals, who carry out their profession on many occasions without means, and of the media, which have seen how the Internet and social networks have overturned the classic model of news production and how this revolution has caught them on the wrong foot.

Sánchez de la Nieta stresses that social networks are the best way to "receive feedback" from users in real time. He acknowledges that these platforms are used by many fake newsbut for this reason it is imperative that journalists assume their essential task of checking and verifying the veracity of information. which is distributed through the networks.
